1. Datasets overview:

The data provide 10-day larch overstory leaf area index (LAI) values across the Nothern Eurasian continent.
The algorithm was summarized in Delbart et al. (2005), and Kobayashi et al. (2010).
*Understory LAI data were not validated.

2. Data sources:

SPOT-VEGETATION S-10 data sets

3. Period:

April 1998 - December 2009

4. Geographical region

Grid size : 15120 x 3921
Pixel reslution : 1/112 degree
Corner pixel lontitude/latitude (pixel center values):
Upper left pixel = {75N, 45E}
Bottom right pixel = {40N, 180E}
Data format: raw binary (Unsigned char)

5. LAI value

LAI(Overstory)= DN * gain
LAI(understory)= DN * gain
(gain = 0.04)

6. Land Cover: GLC2000

Larch forest pixel:Deciduous needleleaf category in GLC200
DN value=253 Water body
DN value=254 error values (or not extracted by the algorithm)
DN value=255 Other land category
The data sets also contain GLC2000 in N-Asia (GLC_2000_N-Asia).
